WND SAM Summit

The WND Synod is grateful to God for the individuals who have said yes to serving the church as Synod Authorized Ministers! As a synod, our work is to walk together with these leaders to equip them to proclaim the gospel. 

The summit is open to anyone who would like to grow deeper in faith in Christ, connect with others in the synod, and learn a few worship and pastoral care basics, the summit is designed for SAMs and SAM mentors. 

As part of the SAM covenant, the Synod Council requires each SAM to annually connect with the Candidacy Committee for formation, and to continue their own theological education. The generous CaSTLE grant through Wartburg Theological Seminary covers the cost of the event and meals, therefore there is no registration fee for this event. Friday supper and Saturday lunch are both provided. 

Our speaker is Lyle Griner, Creative Director for the Relational Leadership Collaborative. Lyle comes with years of experience with congregations, along with a heart for building relationships and empowering congregations to raise up faith leaders among youth. 

Breakout Sessions this year will include: 

1. Worship Basics: Where do I stand and what do I do with my arms when presiding over the sacraments and at a funeral? Oh, and how do I choose a hymn? And finally, what parts of worship might I omit so that Vikings fans get home in time for the game? 
2. Sundays and Seasons Tour: This online Augsburg Fortress resource can help you plan Sunday morning worship, along with Advent and Lent series, and so much more. This tour will show you around the website to make it a helpful resource for you. 
3. Pastoral Care: How to feel more confident in visitation ministry, and how you might equip others in the congregation to live out their baptism by caring for those who are homebound or hospitalized.
