Pretzer Joins WND Synod Staff
Rev. Mike Pretzer Appointed Assoc. with the Bishop for Formation & Transition
Mike Pretzer is a Carrington, ND native. He graduated from NDSU in Fargo with a degree in General Agriculture and a minor in Speech Communications. Mike graduated from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa with a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained on June 29th, 1997 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrington. Mike is married to Alecia and they have three children: Madalyn (Hopkins, MN), Matthew (Bozeman, MT), and Miya (still at home).
Mike has served as a multi-point pastor exclusively in the Western ND Synod, serving churches in Benedict, Butte, and rural Sawyer; Rugby, Barton and Leeds; and most recently in Richardton and Dickinson.
In addition to serving as pastor, Mike and Alecia co-own and operate The Double Batch, a bread baking cottage industry baking business, selling bread at the farmers market and special events. Alecia is also a teacher in the Richardton/Taylor school system, currently teaching elementary music in Taylor to Kindergarten through 4th graders.
Mike is a naturally good listener. He's caring, gentle and soft spoken. He has the gift of asking good questions, and shares his other gifts of faith, peace, joy, and humor. Because of these gifts, Mike has been drawn to coaching and is a certified ELCA coach.
As well as being a pastor, husband and father, Mike is a baker, a dairy farmer and a gardener. Over the years he has traveled to many places in the world to visit, live or study including Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Nicaragua, Namibia, and Norway.
