2007 WND LYO Gathering - "ASK ME"

“Tell the world that Jesus lives, tell the world that He died for them, tell the world that He lives again, Come on, Come on, tell the world!” is the opening words of a song that Jacob’s Road sang at the WND LYO Gathering.  The Seven Seas, Mandan rocked with their music. The WND LYO Board (Max Buchholz, Christina Lantz, Danika Moran, Steph Sandvick, Katie O’Neill, Carter Hill, Cody Horab, Nolan Weisz, Brooke Kilber, and Dustyn Haman) led the gathering with worship services under the theme ”Ask Me” from I Peter 3: 15-16: ”But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer when anyone asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have…but do this with gentleness and respect.” Crosses were presented to each person during opening worship. The four Bible camp staffs provided gathering and worship music. The board presented a power point of pictures and music from the gathering for closing worship.

Action track topics ranged from “Meet and greet Jacob’s Road”, “Ask me about being Lutheran”;  “How we can help the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House”; “Peer Ministry”; “wwjt: What Would Jesus Text”; “Do you want to be a camp counselor?” to “Swing Dancing”.    Dances were held both nights plus an alternative activity was bowling at Thunder Alley.  The cash offering of $962.26 was given to our four Bible camps. The Inkind Offering donations were given to the Ruth Meiers Hospitality House. Each group was assigned to a service project that varied from helping prepare for a rummage sale at the Ruth Meiers House and raking leaves at the park to cleaning at the zoo. Each day closed with devotions in hometown groups; Friday evening devotions also included a temporary tattoo of Martin Luther’s Rose.

We appreciate pastors, youth directors and adults who support the gathering by bringing youth.

The WND LYO board meets four times a year to plan the gathering.  One member of the WND LYO board serves on the synod council.  Also, the LYO board nominates one youth to attend the churchwide assembly.
