On June 7, 2008 the Rev. Mark Narum was elected to serve a six-year term as Bishop of the Western North Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Bishop Narum is a 1986 graduate of Minot State University and a 1999 graduate of Wartburg Seminary. Bishop Narum, his wife, and his three sons live in Stanley. Bishop Narum said, "I am a product of the Western North Dakota Synod. I love this place and the ministry God has set before us here. I like to dream, draw others into that dream, and then see where the Spirit leads. Out of necessity, the Western North Dakota Synod has birthed some incredible ministries. What new possibilites does God have in store and what we can dream into reality through Christ?"
